Plan a task multiple times / Handle longer tasks
Felix
I'd like that the task duration and the time blocked in the calendar for that task did not match. So I can plan a task multiple times, like in Sunsama.

After using Akiflow for just a couple days so far, this missing feature is the biggest thing making me question whether the app is worth it overall. Without the ability to break tasks into smaller work sessions, it makes the Jira integration (for me) pretty meaningless, as it's very rare that a Jira ticket is bite-sized enough for me to complete my work on it all at once.
I would love to be able to tell Akiflow that a task will take a total X hours to complete, then schedule out a handful of working sessions over the next few days. As I add working sessions to my calendar, the item in my inbox should show how much time left is unaccounted for. Only once all scheduled time adds up to the total should the task disappear from my inbox. Once I check off all sessions related to a task, the task is marked as "done." (Though even then, it might be nice to be prompted with "is it really done, or do you need more time?" and the option to schedule additional work sessions.)

This is so needed! The "chunks" were my favourite feature in Motion (but they didn't meet other more important needs). Another option would be to set it up by setting a deadline, and having an option for, "I want to work on this task 'x times' or for 'x hours' each day until complete". Then it could be planned into your days when and where you have time.

Hello, was wondering if there's been any progress or updates to adding this feature to Akiflow? This is something I definitely need within Akiflow!
Jeson P
Turquoise Taxi: Hi! This is not yet part of our roadmap :( Hopefully we get more votes to give this mor visibility.

This would be a fantastic feature. Currently, I have to create multiple tickets for the same task.

Another way of thinking about this would be to allow a task to be split into "chunks" across multiple time slots or scheduled on multiple days. This feature is available with getmotion.com. In other words if a task duration is set to 2 hours, during the planning step it would helpful to toggle on "chunks" and then set a duration for each chunk (15 min, 30 min, 45 min, custom, etc). By doing so the task could split up into separate list items which could then be scheduled during the daily ritual. Once each chunk is completed it would provide a % done to the master task. Hope this makes sense.
Having switched from Motion to Akiflow this year, this is one of the glaring misses from Akiflow and a source of real friction.
Hopefully this can be prioritized soon.

Doug Watson: Thanks for the feedback! I'll note your suggestion within this thread and I’ll pass this along to our product and design teams for future consideration. Appreciate your input!

Even though it wouldn't be good for specific time tracking, this would be amazing for tasks that are due at a later date but you want to see it across every day until you complete it!

Split Task/Task Continuation & Time Tracking Across Multiple Days

Problem:
When a task spans multiple days, there's currently no way to track the work progress and time spent across different days. For example, if I spend 1 hour on a task on Monday and continue it for 2 more hours on Tuesday, moving the task to Tuesday loses the history of Monday's work.
Proposed Solution:
Add the ability to:
Split a task across multiple days while maintaining it as a single task unit
Track time spent per day on the task
Show visual indicators of partial completion on each day's view
Maintain a history of work done on different days
Example Use Case:
Task: "Write quarterly report"
Monday: Worked 1 hour (shows as partially complete)
Tuesday: Worked 2 more hours (shows continuation and completion)
This would help users:
Maintain accurate time tracking for billing/reporting
See their actual work distribution across days
Keep task history without creating duplicate tasks
Better reflect real-world work patterns where complex tasks often span multiple days
Similar features exist in tools like Jira (work logs) and ClickUp (time tracking across days), but implementing this in Akiflow's minimalist interface would provide significant value while maintaining the app's streamlined nature.
