Add travel time block to meetings
K
Karl Barth
Hi there,
a time block for the travel time would be very helpful for the appointment, so that the total time of the appointment can be planned better. The appointment would then be a total block, which would be divided into, for example, outward travel and appointment.
the travel time would be calculated based on the current position and the appointment location.

+1 I love Fantastical for this and a couple of other features I've already upvoted like native apple watch and Ipad support + more widgets and two-way sync for apple reminders. Doesn't look like I can replace Fantastical for now for these reasons

This would be so useful and time saving. Perhaps have a setting we have a default location set up and every event with a location, it automatically adds in the travel event to my calendar. Although, not sure if this is something the Aki bot will be able to do once it's released.

I really hope we get this feature soon!! When I used fantastical, I didn't realize how much I needed this feature in my life. Having to mentally add travel time to/from places so that I don't overbook myself is... overwhelming.

Many of my daily meetings and events require travel time. I hope this will be integrated into Akiflow soon.

Posting this here in behalf of Perry:
For the travel time feature this would be using the location of the event to determine the time needed to drive (or walk, train, bus) to that location based on the previous event location. This would reserve the time on the calendar for the allotted time needed to drive. For reference, both Apple Calendar and Fantastical have this feature. It is also useful for a time to leave notification based on traffic.

Apple Calendar also allows travel time and automatically suggests how much it will take based on the location and transportation method.
Currently in Akiflow, I have to create many small "Travel" events before and after actual events. It litters the calendar quite a lot and makes rescheduling these events very hard.

Oskar: Thank you for sharing this. This will give us more idea about this feature if we decide to work on this in the future!

Hi Karl, thanks for your suggestion:) May I ask you from which tool you've taken the screenshot you've uploaded? Thanks.

Francesco Tisci: You’re welcome. The screenshot is from Google Calendar, and it is linked to reclaim.ai. Reclaim adds a default travel time of 15, 30 or 45min, but this feature is not based on the actual distance. A similar feature, which I suggested, already exists in the Fantastical App

Francesco Tisci: I especially like the version of this that's used in Morgen. It estimates time based on distance and mode of transport (you can only choose one, though). It also allows you to set a global buffer time to all travel events, so you can build in time for unexpected delays.
