Linked Tasks

Some tasks are dependent on the completion of other tasks. It would be nice to have this option. So you do not have to postpone a task until the other tasks is completed.

We would love to have a feature that ensures tasks are completed in the correct order by preventing from proceeding to the next task until the previous one is finished.

Task Dependency

Introduce task dependencies to enable sequential task management within projects. For example, in a project with multiple tasks (e.g., Project X with tasks 1-5), task 2 would automatically depend on the completion of task 1. If task 1 is delayed or rescheduled, dependent tasks (tasks 2-5) should automatically adjust their due dates or planned times to align with the updated timeline.

Hi Yoan. What do you think of this other existing thread? We could add your vote here if you think that they are relevant :)

Create links for tasks

Hi, is there a quick way to retrieve the URL of a task? The only way I found up to now is using the web app and going into focus mode. Then copying the URL from the browser. If I use this URL elsewhere, it directly shows the task in focus mode again.

i would especially like that ability to select whether to open the task in the web or the desktop app. right now the URL opens on the web.
Jeson P
Brian: Thanks for this! May I please know what links are you hoping to have this option?
Jeson P
Also I think this request is more relevant here :)

Jeson P - i have some automation zaps set up that create akiflow tasks based on pages in OneNote, and i try to have links created that go back and forth from onenote to akiflow. it would be helpful to stay within the desktop apps of both versions. so in this case akiflow.
Jeson P
Brian: thanks for clarifying!

I would love this too - speifically, I'd use it for dependencies (IE if a task can't be done until another one is done, I'd really love to be able to throw that task in the "links" section to make sure I'm not working ahead on something that needs to wait.

Link tasks

I want to link to other tasks or "stitch" to other tasks. Something similar to Notion, where you can write "@..." and search for a page. Then the page get's linked to that document.
Copying a task and pasting it in another task description field might be enough.

Exactly, some tasks are also subtasks of others. I really would like to be able to relate tasks to each other also as subtasks. For example, when I send tasks from emails, which helps me get the information directly, so I want to keep this task but it could very well be a subtask of another one, and totally dependant. I would also like to have a pending status, to clear all tasks that are not feasible right now...

Alterna.sashange@gmail.com: Thank you for sharing your ideas about this! Hopefully we can work on this in the future!

HI Karsten, when do you need this? Thank you!

Stefania, currently I used it to connect tasks in Tana with tasks in Akiflow. I would be useful for any kind of app that does not directly integrate with Akiflow, yet. It would also be useful if you want to reference a task in any kind of notes app.
Implementation would probably be not very hard if you just use the URL for the focus mode display of the task that is already there, and make an option somewhere to quickly copy this URL. Bonus would be a switch in the settings to open up all web app links in the desktop app if available.

Karsten Jennissen - do you use Zapier to connect Tana and Akiflow? i was able to use the generic part of the URL ( https://web.akiflow.com/#/focus-mode/ ) and then plug the task ID in at the end which generates a URL. it does connect to the web in focus mode, but it is a (admittedly poor) workaround.

Brian not yet, I have not tried to connect Tana via third party tools (Zapier and others). I really like Tana a lot, but connecting it with other tools requires to learn a lot of tech details and it is not intuitive at all. Hope they make it easier in the future.
