Hi Jimmy, you can currently change an event color (right click on an event) or add a label to a time slot to change it's color. Tasks now can have a label that's visible on calendar but not a full color. I'll let you know if we add this option!

Yes. Absolutely add task color. Not everyone uses Time Slots. Nor do people use Time Slots on every occasion.

It must be immediately.
It must be urgent.
It must be today. 😀

Hey everyone! Do you still feel the need to color tasks now that you can color-code your calendar using Time Slots (with labels)?

Stefania: Hey Stefania - I still think that can be great. Time slots is a great addition but coloured tasks would be amazing!

Stefania: I would still like to task colors, because a time slot only shows the tasks after one extra click, meaning I do not see myself using them too much in the future. Task colors are still necessary imo.
Also nested colors inside time slots would still be great for readability.

Stefania: It's better, but we need task color for more visibility in calendar :D Like for calendar meeting

Stefania: I'd still benefit from that. There is a major reason and a minor reason for me.
Major reason: worse UX experience, because the application background is white and tasks are light gray background. During brighter day time — hard for the eyes to differentiate and figure out when exactly a task starts, when there are 3-4 tasks in a row. Could be fixed by making the borders darker too.
Minor reason: the !!! tasks are less visible now. Yes, the checkmark becomes red on a !!! task, but again, this is so subtle, as this is a 1-pixel-wide rectangle color seen on a side monitor in front of a window on a bright day, that's adding eye tension and I'd prefer a visible red background on such a task. Right now I'm sometimes ending with adding 🚨🚨🚨Description🚨🚨🚨 (or similar), but I'd benefit from doing this easier.
Basically — both items are about UX and tension on the eyes, as everything is very gray-ish and thus sometimes harder to distinguish. And I have ideal eyesight, I imagine if your vision is at least slightly blurry — that would be even harder.

Stefania: I won't use task slots until I can see a listing of the tasks within the slot. Once I can get that then I don't mind the slots alone being in colour.

Stefania: it’s still helpful to have tasks color coded. Being able to visually distinguish between the different tasks is very helpful.
I still believe the time vs actual and subtasks is more important.

Agreed here, but wonder if new time slots solves this though?
Stefania
Ben Adelson: Hi Ben, for sure time slots can help heavily on color coding your calendar. I'll ask everyone, thanks for pinging me on this :)

colors should be fully aligned with color availability on GCal, else it is very confusing to be using different color coding
Stefania
Anat Earon-Heilborn: Hi Anat, are you referring to the current colors? Which ones in particular?
A

Stefania: below are pictuers of the color options in GCal and of Akiflow lables and events. In Akiflow, the events and the labels have different sets, and neither one has the same variety as GCal. I work a lot with colors. For example, the dark blue that is ticked in the GCal picture, has no equivalent in the Akiflow lables, and the Akiflow events have 2 other shades of blue that don't match any of the other sets. I would love to see all 25 GCal colors as options for labels and events.

I've stopped using Akiflow due to the lack of this simple quality of life feature. Please let me know if this ever integrated! I see others have also asked for emojis etc. to create differentiation, but FWIW I think different colours is better.
